Why Another Blog?

I recently noticed that I had a nice little stack of books accumulating that I have actually completed since the first of the year. This stack had started as a don't buy another book until you have read these reminder, sitting there quietly beside my couch. Slowly the stack began to shift, until I now have only one left in the unread pile. Hey - I need to get to Powell's!

For a few years I was in a really nice book club, which was great on several fronts. It kept me reading and I had someone to debrief with after the completion. I sometimes have a hard time forming my own definitive opinion about things (my family is laughing at that statement, no doubt!). I want the opportunity, through this blog, to not only have a good reason to keep the t.v. turned off, but to critically think on and express my opinion about the books I read (or occasional movie or maybe even music or a restaurant - who knows where this may take me).

Why not just put these reviews in my main blog? Well, basically I need a warm-up. I am self-conscious about looking daft, knowing that there are some great intellectuals and book aficionados out there who might stumble across my little musings. Here it goes!...
